Who We Are
|
We are New Testament Christians. We are followers of Christ who strive to be Christ-like. The Old Testament is our "school master" showing us the rich history of man and God. The New Testament is our guide, our lamp and our spiritual food. The Bible teaches us that we must hear the Word (and be doers of the Word). We must believe the Word with all of our heart. As followers of Christ we must repent of wrong doing and confess the sweet name of Jesus Christ. The Bible also says that we must be baptized for the remission of our sins. Once we have put on Christ in baptism we must strive to remain faithful. It is our goal for ourselves and for one another to be able to fellowship in Heaven one day with Jesus. If you visit our congregation you will find a group of happy, friendly, loving souls who want more than anything to be as Christ-like as possible. Each Sunday you will find us praying, singing, teaching one another, giving of our financial means and taking the Lord's Supper. We have mid-week Bible classes on Wednesday night as well.

Seven families were worshipping together at Lynn in 1910. These members were Cleo Hubbard, Bob Martin, Taylor Penn, Henry Deeter, Will Penn, Luda (Harris) Webb and Jim Harris. These members helped construct a two story building near the school and met in the lower level. The church grew rapidly due to personal evangelism, gospel meetings and debates. Some of the preachers and debaters who conducted meetings were Muncie Lawrence, Joe Blue, John L. Fry and C.R. Nichols. In 1937 a building was constructed on the south end of town just off Highway 25. It did not take long for the church to outgrow that building. In 1955 a new auditorium was built on the front side of the old cobblestone meeting house. A large number of souls obeyed the gospel message of salvation in that building from 1955 to 1972. In the early 1970's with the size of the church steadily increasing the Elders thought it wise to build a new complex on the property across the highway from the old building. The land was donated by Everard Webb. In 1972, with work donated by the members of the congregation, a new brick building was constructed. This is the facility in use by the present members of the church in Lynn. The "old building" has been renovated and serves as the fellowship building. The Lord's church at Lynn has been a steady influence for good in the community of Lynn, Arkansas since its conception. With a good strong beginning on which to build, sound leadership, faithful members and standing firmly on the word of God, the church of our Lord in Lynn has been and will continue to be a great influence for God in the effort to spread the Word. |
